Since the beginning of this year, I have been taking the pottery class from a new teacher on Saturday. Taking class on Saturday is a big deal for me because weekend is the only time I spend with my family as a whole (aka 3 people). But I am glad that I did it because it is important to take class from different teachers to get different perspectives.
Hence, I have been making bowls for almost 3 months now and I am loving it. And it so happens that there is a community event on April 25, 2013 in Long Island City where one pays $25 dollar for a handmade bowl from a pottery studio (Brick House) and a bowl of soup from a nice old country Italian restaurant (Manducatis Rustica). The proceeds of this event will go to feed the hungry New Yorkers. More information is on the Brick House Pottery Studio website. I think it is a fantastic idea!
The bowls I made will be donated towards the event! And they are being baked in the kiln now!
