Raining Day

"I know it is wet and the sun is not sunny but we can have lots of good fun that is funny!"  I thought about this line from Dr. Seuss's the Cat in the Hat book when I looked at outside.  It was pouring and the weather forecast said it will be like this for the whole week.

What better day than today to make a good lentil soup.  So that was what I did and it tasted very good.  I adopted this recipe from Myra Kornfeld's The Healthy Hedonist".  Myra Kornfeld was my cooking teacher from the  Natural Gourmet Institute.  I love that cooking school because I always learn a lot of interesting recipes when I took the class.

We had two gorgeous days over the weekend so I can't really complain about this weather.  We went down to Chinatown and found this fire engine house.  How cool is this!

Then we went to Hester Street Fair and had an awesome ice cream, salty caramel from Ample Hill .  I am so spoiled now.
I seriously don't know how anyone can have bad ice cream.  This is the real deal.

And, finally we went to Japan Block Festival.  It was only one block on Park Ave. between 39 and 40th Street.  There were so many people waiting in line getting some yummy Japanese food.

I hope you had a good weekend too!
