Getting Colder

I am not sure what happened to October, but it just went by so fast.  The last week of October was hectic because Ev had a little sniffle for the whole week with very low grade fever.  Of course,  we were little worried considering the nasty ebola has arrived NYC.  We waited to see if Ev gets better but in his little head, the most important thing was whether he can go and do his trick or treat on Halloween.  On the big day, he was all better and the trick or treat was a lot of fun for him.

This Halloween was the first time Ev actually enjoyed it.  When he was 1 year old, he was barely walking, he was a cowboy (he did not know what Halloween was about); when he turned 2, he had temper tantrum for some reasons that I can't recall now and he did not dress up; when he turned 3, he was a football player and we had a hectic trick or treat on the famous East 78th St., it was more like grabbing candies among few thousand people and it was no fun for me.  I think 4 is a good age for us to enjoy him (although my husband reminded me that I make the same statement every year and we have always enjoyed him no matter what age!).  He was a shark this year.

Because of the cold weather, I went to a yarn store and bough this fabulous ball of yarn.

And in two weeks, it turned into an infinity scarf.  I love it.

I have also tried to make pumpkin soup out of fresh pumpkin the first time and it was a disaster.  It was so watery (maybe I need to roast the pumpkin first??) and I decided to go back to Kambucha squash next time.  November is here and I have to think what to cook for Thanksgivings (in this household, there will be no turkey!).  Maybe I will bake some oatmeal cookies over the weekend first.
